Detroit City Airport Executive Hangar Expands Maintenance Capacity for Spirit Airlines

Spirit Airlines has announced plans to expand its aircraft maintenance capacity with a new executive hangar located in Detroit city airport. The facility will provide additional maintenance complex, including two aircraft bays and ramp space for up to four aircraft, as well as warehouse, shops, and office space. This expansion is expected to enhance the airline's ability to service its growing fleet of planes, which is planned to increase by 24 new planes this year.

The hangar will be staffed with over 50 team members from Houston, who will work together to maintain and service Spirit's aircraft. The facility will also serve as a geographical location that complements the airline's existing maintenance hub in Detroit. With its central location along JFK Boulevard, the hangar is expected to play a crucial role in supporting Spirit's growing operations.

The new executive hangar is part of Spirit Airlines' commitment to deepening its roots in Houston. The airline announced plans for the facility on April 20, which will serve as a large aircraft maintenance hangar with offices and warehousing for the Spirit Technical Operations team when it begins its first phase of operations.
